 Yes we have made it to the last week of Pharm! You've learned more than you thought possible and I hope you feel more confident about your knowledge and your ability to help you patients. While I hope you do feel confident, make sure it's just enough to know that there's so much more to learn, remember, and apply! 

Please make sure you watch the very last video lesson (The Last Word) and complete the end of course evaluation. This is very important to me and by school policy, I can't release your final grade until you've submitted your IDEA course survey (you don't necessarily have to complete it, just submit it, but please take the time to provide your feedback and comments. These are taken seriously by me and the university!).

Retatrutide

Both Ozempic and Wegovy are semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist that’s most widely known as an antidiabetic medication because of its ability to modulate blood sugar. 

The next drug in FDA trials is retatrutide. 

Retatrutide is an investigational once-weekly injectable peptide being studied for obesity and type 2 diabetes that acts as a triple agonist at the receptors for GLP‑1, GIP, and glucagon. 

By activating these three incretin- and glucagon-related pathways at the same time, it enhances glucose‑dependent insulin secretion, improves post‑prandial glucose control, slows gastric emptying, and increases satiety, which together help reduce caloric intake. 

Concurrent glucagon receptor agonism appears to increase energy expenditure and promote fat oxidation, so patients in early trials experienced large, sustained weight loss along with better glycemic control
